Web design for Harrogate businesses that serve residents and visitors alike.

Websites and SEO for Harrogate businesses, with online booking where you need it. Clinic and wellness sites are planned around the UK advertising rules from the first draft. We work remotely, on UK time.

Harrogate is a spa town in North Yorkshire. Since Harrogate Borough Council was abolished in 2023, its council has been North Yorkshire Council, a unitary authority. North Yorkshire Council's page for the Royal Pump Room Museum describes it as "home to the strongest sulphur wells in Europe".

Residents, visitors and delegates

On 6 July 2026 North Yorkshire Council published a news release about upgrades to the convention centre. It reports that business leaders in the spa town "claimed that the convention centre is a central factor in Harrogate's economy, bringing in hundreds of thousands of delegates from across the country every year". It also describes the town's tourism sector as "worth £483.4 million annually with 3.1 million visitors each year". The release does not say which year those figures describe.

So a Harrogate website can have two kinds of reader. A resident may already know where you are. A visitor or a delegate may not know the town at all, and arrives with other questions: what you offer, when you are open, how to find you and whether they can book before they travel. The page they land on should answer those on a phone, without making them ring.

What the business counts show, and where they stop

ONS UK Business Counts publishes figures for Harrogate on the boundary of its "major towns and cities" series. That boundary dates from December 2015, so it is not the 2021 Census built-up area, and 2024 is the latest year with data on it. In March 2024 it held 3,575 enterprises, 3,165 of them micro businesses with up to nine people in employment, and 4,240 local units, the ONS's count of workplaces.

By industry classification, 90 of those workplaces were in hairdressing and other beauty treatment. Ninety out of 4,240 is about 2%, close to York's share on the same measure (135 out of 6,650), so the figures show no unusually large beauty sector.

For scale, the Harrogate built-up area had 75,515 residents at the 2021 Census, and the Harrogate district, abolished in 2023, had 162,666.

Clinics and wellness businesses

If you run an aesthetic clinic in Harrogate, the advertising rule that shapes your site is national: a prescription-only medicine may not be advertised to the public, and a clinic's own website is covered. You can advertise the consultation, for the concern a patient wants to discuss. CAP's FAQ of 23 January 2020 says a price list naming the medicine "might be acceptable" if it can only be reached through a page promoting a consultation, which makes it a question of structure as much as wording. For a visitor who finds you on a phone, the consultation page is the one to land on, with any price list a further step from it. Aesthetic clinic websites sets out how we build that route.

A wellness business has a different line to watch: what the site says a treatment does. An objective claim needs evidence before it is published (CAP Code rule 3.7), and anything injected or infused is under CAP Code section 12 as well. Beauty and wellness websites sets out the three regimes, and the clinic website compliance checklist gives CAP's advice on IV drips with its date.

An IV drip or wellness clinic may hold health records, so we treat it as a clinic: the monthly plans we host are not for it, and the same goes for an aesthetic clinic that holds patients' records. The clinic's reminders and review requests are built in an account it owns, under CRM & Follow-up.

Which services fit which business

  • A site for residents and visitors. Websites start with five custom-designed pages. Online booking is an add-on, priced in the written scope.
  • Searches that name the town. SEO works on the searches that pair what you do with Harrogate, including those a visitor may make before travelling.
  • Reviews from every customer. Review Management asks every customer and offers no incentive, for a salon or spa that keeps no health records.

Working with us from Harrogate

WebAsk is a trading name of Naxdor, an enskild firma registered in Sweden, and works fully remotely, with no office in Harrogate or anywhere else in the UK. A project starts with a free 30-minute call and, if we are the right fit, a written scope with the price in it within three working days. The work then runs on video calls, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm UK time.

If your site is already live, the free site audit gives five prioritised findings on search, speed and conversion, as a recorded walkthrough of your own pages and a one-page summary, within three working days of your request unless our reply gives a later date. For aesthetic clinics, dental practices and beauty and wellness businesses, the audit adds a rules check. It reports what the site shows or leaves out, and it is not legal advice.

Harrogate: frequently asked questions

Websites start at £3,500 for five custom-designed pages, as a fixed fee, SEO at £750 a month and CRM & Follow-up at £3,500, each excl. VAT. A site that serves Harrogate's visitors as well as its residents may need online booking, which is an add-on priced in the written scope. A clinic's consultation and price-list pages are agreed in the same scope, before work starts. Each figure is a starting price, and the written scope carries the price for your project.
